Jimukka Grain Milling Solutions Limited

Busoke-Kakoni · Luwero District · Uganda

Maize milled within sight of the fields it grew in.

Jimukka buys maize from farmers around Zirobwe, cleans and mills it on our own acre, and sells flour, bran and animal feed that families and stockists can actually afford.

Where the project stands

What is already on the ground.

We would rather show the site as it is than as a render. The land, the power and the slabs are paid for. The equipment and the silos are the next step.

Standing today

  • One acre owned at Busoke-Kakoni Company-owned land, five kilometres off the Zirobwe road, with room for the full factory complex.
    1 acre
  • Three-phase power line and transformer Constructed by the company. Grid power rather than diesel keeps the cost per tonne down.
    100 kVA
  • Milling warehouse slab Foundation poured and finished, ready for the shed and the milling line.
    Slab complete
  • Animal feeds warehouse slab Second finished slab, for bran and compounded feed storage.
    Slab complete
  • Milling machines First set of milling machines already purchased and on site.
    Locally sourced

Next, with funding

  • Maize milling system and shed Complete milling line installed in a purpose-built warehouse, replacing the interim setup.
    Full line
  • Cleaning, drying and grading system Destoning, drying and grading so that grain can be traded as well as milled, and stored without aflatoxin risk.
    Second warehouse
  • Maize bran store Dedicated storage for bran and animal feeds, keeping the food and feed lines separate.
    Third warehouse
  • Silo storage Nine thousand tonnes of sealed storage, so the mill can buy at harvest prices and run all year.
    6 x 1,500 MT

Why buy from Jimukka

Short supply chain, long shelf life.

Milled where it grows

Grain does not travel to town and back before you buy it. That saved transport is the reason our flour can be priced for households that count every shilling.

Dried and stored properly

Cleaning, drying and sealed storage are the difference between safe maize and mouldy maize. We are building the plant to do it, not improvising.

Every fraction sold

Flour for people, bran and compounded feed for poultry, piggery and cattle. Selling the whole kernel is what keeps the flour price low.

Run by process engineers

The directors have led production, maintenance and quality in Ugandan manufacturing for over a decade, and have audited ISO systems from the inside.

For funders and partners

The land is paid for. The plant is not.
